Diabolical Treatment of the Elderly in UK Care Homes

When are the UK government going to do something about the quality of care in our care homes for the elderly where so many elderly people are being treated worse than animals? There are far too many managers of these homes putting greed before care, under staffing, bad training and the total lack of compassion is a disgrace to the UK, are the many elderly vulnerable people in the UK being looked on as collateral damage during this recession, do they have to go to the wall while the government mess about making excuses before doing something humane, we can only guess, meanwhile those who are losing their loved ones in unforgivable circumstances in these places grieve. People are not blind they see what is happening and realise their own tenuous future is not that far off, beware all those who can afford to turn a blind eye for they will soon become outnumbered.
The gap between young and old has been widening for decades, why not bring elderly people into the classroom where questions can be asked and answered and views shared, this is done for racial intergration why not for the elderly in the UK and everywhere else.

  1. people forget they too will grow old and become frail, there is an overall lacking in the whole healthcare system, especially with regards to the elderly and the mentally ill, the families of these sufferers are expected to look after the sick individual and pay for treatments despite their own state of health or finances, i am glad we have a health service but at best it is lacking and pushed and at worst it leaves people alone to suffer, something needs to be done, i have witnessed both problems in the care of the elderly whereby a friend of mine in her 80's had a stroke and because she was 'too old' she was not deemed suitable for physiotherapy! they actually told her this!!!, she was frightened and i felt that after she worked and payed into the country for over fifty years they could have at least tried physio, more recently i asked for help as i had post natal depression after loosing a baby, i begged for help as i had been hallucinating with stress i asked if i could wait in the waiting room of the hospital as i simply didnt want to go home alone and was told the police would be called if i stayed, how many people have been in this and my friends position? there is suffering and unnecessary suffering when help should have been readily available, the hospital thank god did save my life when i miscarried but they didnt help with support after the event also there was no special food for people with allergies and all i ate for a week was boiled veg which isnt enough for someone recuperating after an operation, i would like to see radical changes in the health service also more easily available psychological support for all, and general health support for those who have impaired immunity through either age or ill health, prevention is better than cure, also carers like pam should be not only financially supported but have 24 hour support, the amount of people that help others for free is shocking and yet heartwarming, i would like to to thank pam for intoducing me to Eckhart Tolle many years ago as i finally understand his principles and it has enabled me to find focus and calm where otherwise i was lost.
